One More Step
Most great people have attained their greatest success
just one step beyond their greatest failure.”
Bumping into obstacles as we journey through life is one of the many things that characterize our sojourn here on earth.
At different stages in life, we are faced with diverse challenges and obstacles that are strong enough to make even the strongest of men throw in the towel.
It's almost impossible to find a man who has not been wounded in the battlefield of life. It's rare to find a child who didn't fall while trying to walk. It's equally rare to find a man who has not been whipped by the cruel hands of failure. What separates dreamers from achievers are the continuous steps taken.
While some remain at a distance curious but afraid to move on for fear of failing, some others shake off the fears and defeat of yesteryears and walk on. You will never know what lies ahead when you're running on a track unless you persevere and get to the finish line to receive the medal, the applause, ovation and other rewards for your labour.
And when it's harder than you imagined it would be...
When it takes longer than you thought it would take!
And when the load is heavier than you thought you could bare!
And all you want to do is give up!
And all you want to do is give in!
When you feel like you've given all you've got!
You gotta take one more step!
You gotta run one more lap!
You gotta throw one more punch!
- Eric Thomas
The hurdles and obstacles we encounter in life are sometimes golden opportunities unpleasantly presented in unexpected ways to build and usher us into places and bring forth victories we cannot get on a platter.
Nothing good comes easy, there's no great glory without a story - challenges are bound to come, it is a sure sign that we're progressing.
The most important part of any journey is the first step, take it and don't stop until you glow in the light and put the tunnel behind you.
Take a step towards that dream that looks impossible, make efforts to reach that goal that looks unachievable, face that obstacle that looks insurmountable, and when it looks like you've come to the end of the road, just take another step.
All things are possible to those who dare to take steps of faith no matter how wobbly the first one is. One more step is all you need to see the difference between what was and what could be. Keep on keeping on.
